
Leona Louise Lewis, born on April 3, 1985, is an actor, singer, and activist born in Britain. She was born and raised in London Borough of Islington and attended Croydon's BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Lewis was able to gain the attention of the nation when she was crowned the third season of The X Factor in the year 2006. Also, she was awarded a PS1 million recording contract with Syco Music. A cover of Kelly Clarkson's"A Moment Like This" was the winner. The album sold 50,000 downloads in under 30 minutes, and peaked at Number One for 4 weeks. Clive Davis, Lewis's American record label J Records signed Lewis a 5-album deal in February 2007. Lewis kept her momentum going by releasing Spirit, her first studio album. It reached platinum status 10x recognized in the UK. It became the fourth most-sold album in 2000, and it was also among the most-sold UK albums. Based on the Official Charts Company, Spirit is the best-selling debut album from an artist of female origin to date in the 21st century. The album's lead track, "Bleeding Love", went on to chart for seven weeks in the UK. 1 in the UK and was the most-sold single in 2007. The song was also the highest-selling single sold in the US in the year. Lewis won the Billboard Best New Artist Award the subsequent year. In 2009 she released her sophomore studio album, Echo, and recorded the song that served as the soundtrack, "I See You" to be used in the film Avatar. In 2011, Lewis released the single "Collide", a collaboration together with Swedish DJ Avicii, and her first extended performance, Hurt: The EP. Glassheart (2012) came out as Lewis her the third album of her studio. The album was Lewis her first foray into electronic music and dubstep. In the course of her Glassheart Tour in 2013, she started recording music to her Christmas debut album. In the following year, Christmas with Love was released, and included the title track "One more sleep" it reached the top three spot within the UK. The chart's entry made Lewis to be the first British solo female artist to achieve the top five, with eight singles. She also overtook Olivia Newton-John's record for seven singles.
